FAQs
1. Can I register an export car in the UAE?
Generally, export cars are meant to be shipped out of the country and may not meet UAE specifications or have previously been de-registered. Re-registering them depends on meeting local standards and passing inspections.
2. What document do I need to export a car?
You need an Export Certificate issued by the RTA (or relevant traffic authority), your Emirates ID (or passport for tourists), and the vehicle's original registration card.
3. Is shipping included in the price?
Usually, the listed price is for the car only (FOB). Shipping costs, insurance, and customs duties at the destination are typically the buyer's responsibility.
4. Can I drive an export car in the UAE before shipping?
You can apply for temporary export plates (usually blue plates) which allow you to drive the car for a limited period (e.g., 3-14 days) while arranging shipment.
5. Why are export cars cheaper?
Export cars might be older models, have higher mileage, or have specs not popular locally (e.g., manual transmission, non-GCC specs). This makes them competitively priced for international buyers.
